Artecoll - Information

Artecoll is a wrinkle-filling substance, which consists of microspheres suspended in a solution of collagen. Artecoll is an injection that combines three key ingredients. The first one is an inert material i.e. PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) which is prepared as very tiny microspheres, blended with a small amount of collagen, just enough to carry them through a fine needle.

Collagen is part of the natural support structure of your skin. Wrinkles form when this natural collagen thins. The substitute collagen is extracted from cows raised exclusively for this purpose. Artecoll is collagen with an added ingredient - tiny microspheres that extend the longevity of the treatment. It is found very effective in the treatment of wrinkles or deep wrinkles.

Artecoll works by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen wherever the Artecoll is injected. The best way to use Artecoll is to have several small treatments, three or four months apart. This allows time for the Artecoll to blend in imperceptibly with your skin and become part of you.

Applications of Artecoll:

These includes:-

  • The injection of artecoll should be strictly deep dermal, via the tunneling technique.
  • Artecoll's collagen vehicle is degraded normally within 1-3 months.
  • PMMA microspheres are naturally encapsulated through the formation of connective tissue, preventing migration.
  • The skin defect is naturally filled by the body's own collagen tissue, encapsulating and anchoring the PMMA microspheres.

Acne Scars: The Increased or decreased skin pigmentation and persistent reddening of the skin leads to the condition of acne. The treatments for acne include subcision surgery, fillers such as Restylane or Artecoll and laser skin resurfacing. Subcision is carried out under local anesthetic to cut the fibrous bands in the deep skin layers. A compression dressing prevents excessive bleeding following the procedure. This is often used for rolling scars.

When the skin, become old looking and freckled - and sometimes also thinned out - it is possible to correct these problems by using Artecoll, which helps to improve the thickness of the skin.
