Makeup Tips for Dark Skin

Makeup is essential in women life. It is must for every woman. The breed of women is of many types like short, tall, slim, fat or extra slim. Skin color also varies like white, whitish, toned or black.

Any black object is a good absorber of light and radiation and hence the good reflector also. Because of your skin color, you will need to avoid creamy foundations and choose from liquid foundations or water based foundation. Apply foundation and powder lightly, because dark skin reveal the layers of makeup more than any other type of skin, say fair skin etc.

The structure of facial features and the evenness of skin color are important in order to create a great look. Always avoid oil based products to make your makeup last longer since black skin has a tendency to reject makeup.

Black hair, fair skinned beauties can wear lip tones of dusty rose and plums to brighten their look but nothing can replace a bright warm red for drama. Generally lip colors that work are: raspberry reds, warm reds, blue reds, bright reds, geraniums, fuchsias, roses, medium pinks, berries, burgundies, soft plums. Avoid orange reds. Avoid strong pinks.

Choose lipsticks with matte finish rather than frosted ones. The shades should not be too dark or too light. Medium dull shades would look best.

The dark skin is more resilient than fair skins. Due to more pigment, it can withstand exposure to the sun much better. For your skin tone, you should stick to warm and earthy colours.

These includes:-

  • Foundation: For foundation, select an oil-free liquid foundation. Choose a water-based foundation. Also make sure that the foundation is not lighter than your skin tone.
  • Eyes: The eyes can be accented with dark browns, prunes, copper and burgundies. Avoid light, powdery colors and iridescent color that covers the whole eyelid. Mascara will darken and thicken the eyelashes and give the eyes a glamorous look. Use inky black mascara.
  • Lips: Choose lipsticks with matte finish rather than frosted ones. Lip colors with berry shades, plums, burgandies and all shades of browns look great with dark skin. Also beiges, gold's and soft pinks work well. Avoid orange shades, they will wash you out.
  • Eyeliner: The dark, thick eyeliner will make you look overdone and will ruin the rest of your makeup.
  • Mascara: The too much mascara looks fake and will flake. It looks especially bad, if worn with thick eyeliner or dark blue eye eye shadow.
  • Powder: The same holds true for powder- not too much. Also, be sure to blend your makeup, so that there are no obvious line.
