Mascara - Types of Mascara - Tips for Applying Mascara

Mascara is one of the most popular beauty items, which defines and brings color to the lashes, and highlights and dramatizes eyes.

Mascara is an amazing invention and is considered fundamental to any kind of makeup application. Applying too much mascara increases the chances that the mascara will flake, chip or smear, and that the lashes will appear hard and spiked. Also, the eyelashes can take only so much weight, and excess weight can break them.

Mascara is your most effective makeup tool. It is a great eye opener that emphasizes the lashes. They are also available in waterproof and regular formulas. Using a proper application technique when applying mascara is extremely important to achieve a finished look.

For your upper lashes, wiggle the mascara wand back and forth at the base of the lashes to deposit color before rolling the brush through your lashes.

Mascara is a cosmetic used to darken, thicken and define eyelashes. Mascara comes in three forms: liquid, cake and cream. It also comes in many formulas, tints and colors. The general purpose of mascara is to emphasize, thicken, lengthen, and define lashes.

Types of Mascara:

Mascara comes in two basic types: waterproof and water-soluble.

  • Water-soluble mascaras: The problem with some water-soluble mascaras is that they don't come off easily with water, even though they should. Luckily, there are great water-soluble mascaras that build long, thick lashes without clumping or flaking and that come off with a water-soluble cleanser.
  • Waterproof mascaras: These can be problematic, because in order to remove this type of mascara you must pull and wipe around the eye area. Waterproof mascara is fine for occasional use, but wearing it every day can cause more headaches in the long run. The main drawback is that, the most waterproof mascaras can break down and smear due to oil from your skin or emollients in your moisturizer or foundation.

Tips for Applying Mascara:-

These includes:-

  • Select a suitable color. If you have blond or red lashes then go for brown mascara.
  • Ensure that the mascara covers your lashes from root to tip.
  • Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and apply all other eye makeup.
  • Begin with the underside of your upper eye lashes and then moving the brush slowly upward toward the tips of your lashes.
  • Brushing your lashes with a damp toothbrush might help tackle clumping of mascara on the lashes.
  • A shorter mascara brush will give you more control, especially when applying it at the corner of your eyes.
  • Wipe off excess mascara from the wand with a tissue before application. This prevents blobs of mascara on your lashes.
