Laser Breast Lift - Risks of Breast Lifts or Breast Reduction Surgeries

Breast lift is also known as mastopexy, is an cosmetic plastic surgery procedure. The breast lift is done as an outpatient surgery and takes one to two hours. It is usually done about three months after your initial breast reconstruction surgery. After breast reconstruction, your other breast may require a breast lift, or mastopexy, to restore symmetry.

Breast lift is usually done on an outpatient basis. Cessation of all nicotine products is strongly urged three weeks pre and post operatively. Smoking before or following breast lift surgery increases the visibility of scarring and causes problems with healing. Your breast, may get affected by the loss of skin elasticity, gravity and other factors such as weight loss, pregnancy and breast-feeding.If your breasts are smaller or have lost volume due to pregnancy or other factors, our Rochester physicians can insert breast implants in conjunction with breast lift surgery to increase your breasts' firmness and size.

Breast lift is a common procedure that can be performed with or without the insertion of breast implants. In the breast lift surgery, the surgeon makes an anchor shaped incision along the natural contour of the breast. We then remove the excess skin during the breast lift procedure, and move the nipple and areola to the higher position. Finally, we bring the skin surrounding the areola down and together to reshape the breast, and close the incisions with stitches. Working through this incision, the surgeon sculpts the skin and tissue and repositions the nipple to give the breast a new and youthful appearance.

Breast sagging or ptosis, can be corrected with a breast lift or mastopexy. If the breast sagging is minimal and the breasts are small, ptosis can be corrected with augmentation mammoplasty. This method causes fewer scars on the breast than mastopexy.

A laser breast lift technique in which an internal bra is created from the patient's own tissue through the use of a laser. A CO2 laser is used in the creation of the internal bra that increases the longevity of the breast lift results.
